7 Days of Meditation Challenge
Sure, many of us know that meditation is good for us. But just like with eating healthy and exercising regularly… starting and maintaining a meditation practice isn’t easy, especially if you’re just getting started! Even more challenging is finding the right guidance and returning to the practice every day. Maybe you’ve even downloaded an app to motivate you but never seem to open it. Or maybe the thought of choosing the right app is overwhelming, especially one that continues to work play-after-play.
Getting Started with Meditation
Because meditation is a practice that deepens when done consistently over time, finding a method that you enjoy is the first step. Once you settle on parameters that work for you, the next steps are to:
Make the time. (It’s only 10 min max! Best around the same time every day like in the AM before your work day, or PM before bed.)
Find the space. (Anywhere! But somewhere comfortable, safe and quiet if you’re starting out.)
To support a consistent practice, I invite you to meditate with me from 2-10 minutes for the next week. You can do these short meditations from anywhere and at any moment; simply stream the guided Grounding Root Meditations on Spotify or Apple Music. These were made especially if you’ve never meditated before or feel like you can’t meditate. Even by passive listening you are already doing the work. Don’t take my word for it— TRY IT!
Grounding Root Meditations is a series of 3 tracks. Listen to one or all three:
Track 1: Mindful Moment of Grounding if you only have a minute or two.
Track 2: Deep Restoration Meditation for a quick practice that guides you toward conscious connection with your breath
Track 3: Grounding Affirmations offers a practical way to ease your mind.
Once you’ve completed the meditation(s), sit in silence for 1-2 minutes. It is OK if you can only do 1 minute. Most of the time, I look forward to a full 10 minutes. By the end of the meditation, I feel like a full layer of weight has been lifted from me.
7 Days of Meditation Challenge
For the next 7 days, commit to starting a meditation practice. Put 10 minutes aside to focus on your body and breath with a guided practice set to music. On DAY 1, journal how you feel without any judgement. What feelings or thoughts come up? What do you want to move toward and what do you want to let go of?
◘ Save + Download the 7 Days of Meditation Spotify playlist to your library for easy access to the guided meditations on-demand, wherever you are. Tune-in each day. Headphones are highly recommended.
Apple Music Listeners: stream or purchase Grounding Root Meditations on iTunes and Apple Music
◘ Use the 7-day tracker to hold yourself accountable to your meditation commitment. Mark off each day you complete a meditation! Tag @dailyritualyoga and @fundamental.harmony on IG to share your progress.
Meditation can set up the conditions for easy thinking and feeling. It welcomes simultaneous attention and expansion or flow state that can help you transcend into a space of solitude to muse and reflect undisturbed. In such a meditative space, you can feel focused yet at ease, allowing the mind and body to experience deep rest.
